I'm Reading the Humorist!~and it's signed!!!

When we went to see Russell Kane at camp bestival, he did a talk about his first book, The Humorist.
Afterwards there was a signing and we had to buy one because it sounded so good!!!
So I thought as I'm reading it, I'll blog about what I think of it:)

At the talk, he made it clear that it is not meant to be a funny book, as some people have reviewed it badly just because a comedian had written it and it wasn't that funny.
But I can't stop laughing!!! Probably because it's so dark and Benjamin is so blunt with what he says it makes it hilarious!:D
I'm on page 71 now after spending most of my waiting at the festival on reading the book which I think is absolutely amazing!!!

The main character is a man called Benjamin White, he was born with a condition that prevents him from laughing, which makes his life quite awkward. He can't laugh, but he can find things funny and he understands how jokes work! So he became a comedy critic and travels the country ripping comedians apart, especially a man called Jay Conway (which I think is based on Russell Kane) but he's the only potential problem I've read about so far!!!
The book begins with a bloodbath. A comedy club full of dead bodies lying in their own fluids obviously murdered by someone. Benjamin is stood there unharmed and explains to a police officer about how he was in the corridor and then all of a sudden he was thrown into genocide. Which seems a bit fishy...
He then goes back to the date he was born and the events that happened then, how his condition was spotted, he cried at everyone's laugh. And then it develops onto him growing up, being a loner and a freak, falling in live with his COUSIN, Becky. And then it skips forward to him working as a journalist and beginning to research the idea of a joke that has the potential to kill.

And that's where I am now. I'm really excited to read a lot more of it today!!! The characters are really interesting and there seems to be a big adventure and a few problems that will come on the way.
I would recommend this book to anyone!!!aaah it's so good!!! But if you were going to read it, it has a lot of swearing and c words ahahaha I don't really think I should be reading this at 14, but its so good, I don't care;) xx
